Siteimprove alternative — published pricing, self-serve
Last updated
The short version
Siteimprove is not an overlay, and this is not that kind of comparison. It is an established enterprise governance platform that scans large estates, reports issues and tracks them over time — sold through a sales team, on annual contracts, at prices it does not publish. adasafe is a self-serve scanner with published pricing that generates and validates the fixes. If you are a large organisation with a governance mandate, Siteimprove is probably the right answer.
What Siteimprove is
Founded in Copenhagen in 2003 and majority-owned by Nordic Capital since 2020, Siteimprove crawls your whole digital presence — pages, PDFs, media — and reports issues against WCAG, ADA, Section 508 and the EAA. Accessibility sits alongside analytics, SEO and content quality in one platform, which is precisely the appeal for an organisation managing many sites and needing to show a trend line to a board or a regulator.
It does not remediate. In Siteimprove's own words, issues are “flagged, prioritized, and paired with clear guidance, so your team can resolve them quickly.” Fixing stays with you. They also sell manual testing services separately, using certified testers with real assistive technology.
They are honest about the ceiling, and they are right
Siteimprove publishes something most vendors in this market will not: that “automated scanning identifies roughly 30% of WCAG issues,” and that “full WCAG conformance can only be achieved if you add manual testing to automated testing.”
We are quoting that approvingly, not as a gotcha. It is true of their scanner and it is true of ours. Any vendor telling you an automated tool delivers compliance is either misinformed or selling you something. Siteimprove makes no compliance guarantee anywhere on its site — which, in this category, is a mark in its favour.
The pricing question
Siteimprove does not publish list pricing; its pricing URL redirects to the homepage, and every route to buying runs through a demo request. There is no self-serve path and no credit-card checkout.
Third-party procurement data from the Vendr marketplace put the average Siteimprove contract at about $15,600 a year as of early 2026. That is an estimate derived from anonymised buyer transactions, not a list price, and your figure will depend on estate size and modules. We cite it only because no official number exists.
adasafe publishes its prices — $39, $129 or $299 a month, plus a $99 one-off verified scan — and you can run a scan without speaking to anyone. Those are different products for different buyers, not a like-for-like saving.
How the two compare
- Both scan your real source. Neither is an overlay. Neither changes what your visitors load at runtime.
- Fixes. Siteimprove reports issues with guidance for your team. adasafe generates the code fix and re-tests it against your live page, up to three times, before handing it over.
- Scope. Siteimprove governs large estates across accessibility, SEO, analytics and content quality. adasafe does WCAG 2.2 auditing and proof records, and nothing else.
- Manual testing. Siteimprove sells certified human testing. adasafe does not offer it.
- Buying. Siteimprove: demo-gated, annual contract, unpublished price. adasafe: self-serve, published price, monthly.
When Siteimprove is the better choice
Often. If you run hundreds or thousands of pages across multiple properties, need role-based access and workflow for a distributed content team, need accessibility reported next to SEO and analytics in one governance view, or need certified manual testing under one contract — that is what Siteimprove is built for and adasafe is not. Public sector and higher-education buyers with formal monitoring obligations are squarely their customer, not ours.
adasafe makes more sense if you have a handful of sites, want to see a price before a sales call, and want the fix written for you rather than a ticket describing the problem.
What adasafe does not do
- No manual expert testing. On Siteimprove's own figure, automated scanning reaches roughly 30% of WCAG issues — that ceiling applies to us too.
- No multi-site governance, workflow or role-based estate management.
- No SEO, analytics or content-quality modules. WCAG auditing only.
- No compliance guarantee. A proof record is evidence of diligence, not immunity.
